Please complete the online Adoption form and we will get back with you within 48 hours. If you are interested in a specific available animal, please let us know on the application. Or, the staff is excellent at matching people with new pets depending on what you are interested in. If you have not heard back from us after 48 hours, please contact us to make sure we are working on it.
Applications are kept on file for one year at NHS. If you have completed an application within the last year, please Email the shelter to provide your name and indicate when you last submitted an application. Otherwise, please move forward with the online adoption form.

Once you are notified that you are approved for adoption, call the Shelter at 715-634-5394 and schedule an appointment. The shelter is open 11 – 3 Monday through Saturday.
Please plan to bring your entire family to make sure everyone gets along.
If you are adopting a dog, and you currently have a dog(s) you must bring them with you to meet their new best friend. Once you arrive, leave your dog(s) in the car while you first meet the new dog. If all is going well, we will help you introduce the dogs to each other.
